Andersen Studio Launches KickStarter Diaries

Greetings World,

I am starting today this journal of our first KickStarter Project.

This is a process within a process..

At this stage in our history our ultimate goal is to transform our creative and unique family business into a form that can be carried on by others beyond our own family  so that  future generations of Americans can have the opportunity to participate in what we feel is a very rewarding occupation and lifestyle.

I formulated my idea of how this can be done around about 2007, which you can read HERE and also learn about our history in the process. The link dated 2012 was written more recently in pursuit of the same vision. Both were written before I had heard about KickStarter.

Kickstarter is a natural fit  for Andersen Studio as we are a small ceramic art, design and production studio operating in the private sector. Since we opened our gallery doors in 1952, our work became collectible through a grass roots movement. Over the years we have had so many people tell us of their excitement in rediscovering our work after many years and of re-awakened treasured memories, that we can say that our work strikes personally iconic chord at an individualistic level.

Kickstarter is  grass roots capitalization. At Andersen Studio, we feel confident that there is a lot of support out there for our vision, support that has matured over the course of over half a century. However, we have lost track of many of the support avenues that are out there for us. Since the success of a KickStarter project largely depends on having a well organized support base, we have decided to let the word out in advance of the official launch of our KickStarter Project, which is in its initial planning stages now. It is too early to divulge where we are going with it. I will just say that I find the project inspirational because it encompasses all the levels of marketing which our small and unique ceramic design and handcrafting  business encompasses.

Our parents, Weston and Brenda Andersen began this business with a philosophy of creating a hand made product affordable to the middle classes and thus was born our slip-cast line of designs. made affordable by the reproductive process. At the same time we have had the long term intention of developing a limited edition line of designs. Since the KickStarter project encompasses a full price range of rewards categories, doing the KickStarter project is the impetus to finally launch our first limited edition art work.

There is much to be done and so that is all for now but we will be posting more as we move forward on this intriguing project. I hope you will follow us, share the link, and help us to spread the word.
